Dealertainer & Customer Service
In this section, I'm going to be talking about your job as a dealer. And we like to call it, in the casino industry, “Dealertainer”. Because even though you are a dealer and you are dealing table games, a good portion of your job is being an entertainer. You're there to entertain the guest, and customer service is a large portion of your job.
Now the first thing is after you get done with all the muscle memory, after you get done with learning how to deal the game, and you could just deal it without even thinking, a lot of your job is going to be talking with the players. You're going to be asking about them, you're going to be telling stories, and you're going to be having fun. A lot of talking and entertaining and really just keeping the conversation going. That's why this job is really, really great for extroverts who enjoy talking with people. Who really enjoy doing this. It’s not so much about the dealing as it is about talking with the customers and having fun and having your customers have a good and enjoyable time.
So that's why this is one of the best jobs ever, because you just sit here and have fun talking with people. I mean, what other job could you say that you do that? And if you have fun, they're going to have fun. And that's a big portion of it. You want to have a good time? If you're not having a good time, talk about something that interests you. You know, if you're a really big fan of a certain football team, talk about that and maybe you'll find a couple customers who agree with you. And you guys now have found something to talk about for the rest of the night. So it really is about people. It's about asking them questions. People love to talk about themselves. So if you don't know what to talk about, talk about them. They love talking about themselves. You will keep them at the table forever asking questions. Who they are. You know what they do in life, about their life. Do they travel? All sorts of things? You want to be friendly. You want to be approachable. You want to be happy. Again, if you're having a good time, they're going to have a good time. And that is a big part of your job.
