Celebrity Expectations

I was dealing blackjack and not really paying attention to anything when my floorwoman, Elizabeth, came rushing over to me while saying, “Look! There’s Dennis Franz! I love his show! Maybe I can get an autograph!” She hustled over to the table he had just sat down at and happily talked to him and the group of people he was with. They sat and played for an hour and then they got up and walked over to my table; I was so excited. I love Dennis Franz and I was so happy about meeting him. He sat down, introduced his wife, Joanie, his sister, Marlene and her husband to me and then they started playing. I tried really hard to be pleasant and likable because I really wanted to leave a good impression but fate had different plans.

He got all the worst cards and lost almost every hand. That’s when I realized he was just another human being like all of my other players. He was so furious he was losing money that he blamed me. He grumbled, cursed, and then threw his cards down. He acted exactly like the customers I despise; I was so disappointed. His wife and sister were very friendly and sweet. I liked them a lot but by the end of the night I had completely stopped talking to Dennis. I would only talk to his wife and sister. They left a couple hours later.

Bebe

I was dealing blackjack when suddenly something small and light ran into my foot. I looked down and it was this adorable dog, a poodle-fox terrier mix, running around exploring everything. I heard, “Bebe… Bebe…” and I looked up and saw Richard Belzer from Law & Order, along with a group of people, calling for the dog. The dog stopped what he was doing and ran over to him. Richard picked up the dog and walked to the nearest bar. When I got on break I walked over to them and talked to Richard and the group for a couple minutes. They were all very nice people, I enjoyed it.

Paris Falls

I was working at a popular casino one night in October and was headed down to the break room when I saw Paris Hilton come out of the bathroom completely wasted. I heard she was there for her sister’s 21st birthday party. She is walking back to the party with her entourage of security guards when she tripped and fell flat on her face, skirt went over her head, she had no underwear on and she was so drunk she couldn’t pick herself back up. So I’m looking at the security guards, expecting one of them to help her up… but nothing happens. They just stand there and watch. And Paris Hilton is on the ground whining and screaming and throwing her arms every which way, when a cocktail waitress finally comes over and helps her up. “Don’t touch me, you bitch! You just want to touch a celebrity! Don't touch me!” Paris shouted as she ripped her arm away from this girl’s helping hands. Then she stumbled away. I looked over to one of the body guards who was standing right next to me and asked, “What just happened?” The security guard smirked and replied, “Let me put it this way; the last time one of us helped her up he got fired. We are not allowed to touch her, look at her, or speak to her; we are only hired to make sure nobody hurts her.” Oh… I am so happy I don’t have his job.
