The World Series of Poker is a temporary job that lasts for 7 weeks; from late May to July. People can start applying for a position in January. In order to apply for the position, you must meet certain requirements set out by the casino. These requirements include having prior poker dealing experience, or have completed a poker dealing trade school course in order to get hired. The dealer must be able to deal and run all flop, draw and seven card tournament games in limit, no-limit and pot-limit formats. Then there’s the typical dealer-specific requirements such as being friendly, outgoing, with good customer service skills and a natural team player. Must be neat, clean and have a professional appearance and practices good hygiene. The applicant must be 21 years of age or older and have a Nevada Gaming License in order to qualify. The dealer must have good math skills when it comes to calculating pots or rakes. They must be able to respond calmly and handle distressed guests. The dealer must be able to work in a fast paced environment and be responsive to visual and auditory cues. They must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time and memorize all game rules, policies and procedures given to them.

Don’t forget to fill out your questionnaire as part of the application process. It must be completed to be considered for hire. Auditions are by invitation only. If the dealer has meet all of the requirements a staff member from the World Series of poker will contact you and invite you to schedule an appointment for an audition. Dealers must successfully pass their audition if they wish to be hired. During the audition, dealers will be required to answer questions based on the Dealer’s Reference Guide , ensuring that the candidate read the material. Then they’ll be auditioned on four poker games. Every dealer will deal No-Limit Texas Holdem and the three other games will be picked randomly from the list provided:

After the dealer has been hired, they’ll discuss the schedule since schedule preferences are not guaranteed. Dealers are expected to work 40 hours or more per week. Normally dealers work more than 8 hours a day and up to 6 days a week. Overtime and extended schedules are common due to the nature of this event. The World Series of Poker is a 24 hour tournament and all shifts need to be filled. New WSOP dealers will receive their schedule on the day of orientation, which is mandatory and held on a Sunday, 3 days before the tournament starts. If you wish to return on a yearly basis, you must fill out a new application every time, however if you successfully completed at least one full year of employment as a WSOP deal in the past 3 years, then you’re not required to pass a second audition. Auditions are only required for people who hasn’t worked for the World Series of Poker organization since 2016. If you’re a WSOP dealer in a different location other than Las Vegas, then you may be eligible for a phone audition.
