I would learn the true value of life
and death. I would see
the pain in a mother’s eyes as she realized that she just lost
her child. I realized
that I had to keep a journal of sort of the feelings that I
observed and how they affected me and my values.
Of what life and death really were and how they figured
in to the grand scheme of things.
This is a record of some of the more memorable calls
over the years. I felt
that I owed it to the public to really try and make them
understand just what a first responder really went through on
almost every call and the toll it takes on each of us. I dedicate this to the first responders
all over the world.
